Resa R.Pestano has bagged Principal of the Year Award
It was in 1988 when the Manila Locale, under the leadership of s. Gladys Claire V. Quillao, initiated its teaching ministry with the founding of the Maranatha Christian School- Manila Chapter; the initial batch of students consisted of 20 kindergarten and preparatory students. Not long after, the Maranatha Christian Academy of Manila offered complete elementary education in School Year 2003-2004.
The MCA, consistent with its commitment of developing well-rounded individuals, established its secondary education SY 2004-2005. The year 2008 saw the first batch of high school graduates and MCA Manila’s recognition by the Department of Education.
Through the DepEd’s Education Voucher System (EVS), the MCA offered scholarship grants to deserving elementary school graduates in the pursuit of secondary education. It started with 21 first year student grantees. In the school year 2010-2011, the MCA institutionalized the Educational Service Contracting (ESC) with 50 first year student grantees.
In 2016, MCA began its Senior High School offering, the General Academic and Technical-Vocational Strands (Food and Beverage Services, Computer Systems Servicing, and Bread and Pastry). Just recently, the first batch of Grade 12 FAB students earned their National Certificate II, thereby making possible their immediate employment.
From its humble beginnings of a single classroom and a combined class, MCA Manila’s facilities include classrooms and laboratory rooms to meet the foregoing demands. Moreover, from a handful of employees, the MCA family now has 50 teaching and non-teaching staffers. The teaching staff is mostly LET passers who are pursuing a master’s degree.
For the past decades, the Maranatha Christian Academy of Manila has been touching lives, educating hearts, and stirring-up souls of the future generation. MCA Manila remains steadfast in its quest for reaching out to today’s generation and the coming ones.
Honestly, speaking very excited, humbled, and blessed to be the” Principal of the Year” by Women Icon powered by Times Women, it is once in a lifetime experience and memory worth remembering. I’ve been in the academy for almost 31 years and counting, and at present Principal of the Maranatha Christian Academy of Manila, Inc.
